Curley Wikkeling-Millers 44-year career has been rooted in the beauty industry, as a licensed cosmetologist, salon, owner, and educator. Curley is equally passionate in every area of her work. She realized the need to secure a career and quickly and obtained her cosmetology license at age 19 as a single mother. She embarked on a journey that has spanned decades, across many segments of business and touched many lives. As a salon owner for 23 years, she mentored many young women in the business of cosmetology. Many have gone on to own their own salons. As an educator/platform artist she has worked for many product companies, Revlon, Organic Root Stimulator, and Dudley Products to name a few. Over the past 13 years she has shifted her focus from behind the chair in the salon into education. She currently teaches at two community colleges, Laney in Oakland and Solano Community College in Fairfield. She also is co-founder of D.R.E.A.M. Financial Academy, a non-profit that is dedicated to enlightening youth ages 6-19 targeting low income communities within the San Francisco Bay Area counties to become financially literate. She can be heard stating to her students, “I’ve learned so much during the course of my career, I refuse to take it to my grave”. Her most recent endeavor is being selected as coordinator of The Center For Academic Excellence at Solano Community College. She currently resides in Fairfield Ca with her husband Mike of 22 years. She is the mother of 1 son, Michael and grandmother of 2, Mikaela and Michael and is soon expecting her 1stgreat granddaughter.
In her spare time Curley enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
